Over 30 years ago in Knowlton, Quebec, a physical education teacher, Bill Busteed  at the local high school got together with a few of his colleagues; Bob Douglas and Steve Trew and some friends (also somewhat fanatical) and started talking about a game he had read about in Baseball Digest. The game was a simulation baseball game based on the actual stats of players the year before. It was a board game played with cards and dice. It was from the  Strat-O-Matic Game Company just outside New York City. These baseball fanatics ordered a game and drafted teams and went on to play a 60 game schedule with six or so managers. They played in the late fall and winter months to give them something to do during these cold and boring seasons where they couldn't watch baseball live.

That was then and now, a few other fanatics and baseball diehards continue this winter pastime in Knowlton, Sweetsburg, Granby and Cowansville. The League consists of ten teams this year. The commissioner has played for close to thirty years and is a retired school teacher. In the league, there are three employees of IBM (Bromont) , a retired IBM employee, a  financial wizard working for the BMP Hospital group, a part-time banker,  a Granbyite, the retired school teacher, a  new kid in his 3rd year (a son of a past strato player) and finally another second generation player from Cowansville (1st year)
